Social Studies- The Constitution and The Articles of Confederation

This is a reminder that the African American Text Features Booklet Project is due on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
The African American Presentation from the booklet is due on Friday, February 22, 2019.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Field Study- Final Payment for the Myrtle Beach field study is due on Friday, March 1, 2019.  Late Payments can not be accepted as we have to give the venues a final count.  The total cost of the field study is $75.

REMINDERS:
Please make sure your child has his/her own headphones for class every day.

The first payment for the Myrtle Beach Field Study is due Friday, February 1, 2019.  You can pay the full amount or half.  Please pay online. (Please direct inquires about the field study to your child's homeroom teacher.)

First Friday Breakfast is February 1st.  Please return the form that was sent home if you plan to attend.

Welcome back to a wonderful week of new experiences and teaching and learning!  This week, we will focus on the following:

ELA- Opinion Writing, Reading Paired Passages, Finding Evidence to Support an Answer, Adjective Order, Using Context Clues, Multiple Meaning Words, and a Review of ALL Second Nine Week Standards

Social Studies- Revolutionary War Battles (Students should know significant details for each battle and be able to locate where each occurred on a map.  They should also be able to list the chronological order that each occurred.  This week we will also begin working on our Battles Newspaper Project due on Wednesday, January 23rd.  Please see the rubric on the calendar for more information.)

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

January 22-24, 2019- Benchmark Testing (Please make sure that your child is present everyday for testing.)

Welcome Back to another wonderful year of teaching and learning!  This week, we will be reviewing and learning the following:

ELA - Supporting Answers Using Text Evidence, Latin Roots, Numerous Review Standards, and Writing Opinion Pieces

Social Studies- Key Battles of the Revolutionary War (Lexington and Concord, Bunker (Breed's) Hill, and Saratoga); Students are required to know significant information about each battle and where it took place.

ALL STUDENTS need to have his/her own pair of headphones for class daily.  If you have not paid for your child's field study on Thursday, January 10th to the Challenger Center, please pay for it as soon as possible.  The field study is $15.

Field Study:
On Thursday, January 10th, we will be attending a field study to the Challenger Center here in Columbia.  The cost of the field study is $15.  Please pay this online in Parent Portal.  Also, if your child has not purchased his/her t-shirt for $10, please make sure that they do so.  Your child has to return a signed permission form to be allowed to attend.
